Locate can be used to bring attention to a device by the flashing green LEDs and by the word “LOCATE” displayed on the front panel if the device has an OLED display. Devices with no OLED will only flash green LEDs. This behavior overrides the normal front panel LED display. Locate can also be initiated physically via the front panel on any server-class devices and can report back to this dialog for identification.
When the Locate Devices dialog is launched but not connected to a system, a Device Discovery operation is performed. If launched while connected to a system, no device discovery is performed and only devices that participate in that system will be displayed.
The All Locate Off button will set locate to 'off' for all devices (including those filtered out of the current view).
Devices that support audible locate will trigger a noise source concurrently with the visual locate. The audible locate will state the device name and channel and may be adjusted for volume as shown below:
NOTE: Audible locate will be muted during firmware upgrades.
If multiple rows are selected and Locate is clicked on any of the selected rows, the last-selected row’s value for locate is toggled and the other rows will become uncollected. For multiple-device Locate, a right-click context menu presents two options, Turn on locate on selected rows and Turn off locate on selected rows. These two options perform their given task on all selected rows.
There are two methods of initiating the Locate Devices in a Tesira system:
If the Locate function is performed when connected to a system via the right-click context menu, the device that the block(s) has been allocated to will be selected. When not connected to a system however, no selection will occur.
Unless stopped earlier, the locate function automatically completes after one hour. In addition to toggling the software or pressing any button to cancel the locate operation, rebooting or power-cycling a device will clear the locate action.
Unless otherwise indicated, when a device is being located all available front panel LED’s will flash in a cycle of .5 seconds on, then .5 seconds off. The word “Locate” will appear on the front panel of all server class devices that feature a display.
SERVER, SERVER IO, TesiraFORTÉ & TesiraLUX
Each of these devices will flash the standard alarm, activity, status and AIS LEDs alternately green and off. The power LED will remain solidly lit green. Holding the “select” front panel cap-touch button for 4 seconds will initiate Locate from the device. Initiating or cancelling locate may also be performed by selection of a menu item. Pressing any button will cancel. The OLED will display the text “LOCATE” when locate mode is active. The TesiraFORTÉ X front panel LEDs flash green in unison once Locate is activated (no OLED screen).
EX-MOD, EX-IN, EX-OUT, EX-IO, EX-AEC & EX-LOGIC expanders
Each of these devices will flash the standard alarm, activity and status LEDs alternately green and off. The power LED will remain solidly lit green. There is no way to initiate/cancel Locate on the expanders hardware. Locate can only be initiated/cancelled for the expanders from Tesira software.
EX-UBT / EX-USB expanders
The power LED status will flash green when triggered from the Tesira software. There is no way to initiate/cancel Locate on the expander hardware. Locate can only be initiated/cancelled for the EX-UBT / EX-USB from Tesira software.
Tesira Rack-Mount Amplifiers (except TesiraXEL 1200)
The Tesira rack-mount amplifier will flash the standard alarm, activity, status and AIS LEDs alternately green and off. The power LED will become solidly lit green. Each of the Signal, Fault failover and mute LEDs for each channel will also flash green and off. This operation is independent of whether the amplifier is in “On” or “Standby” mode. Holding the “select” front panel cap-touch button for 4 seconds will initiate Locate. The Locate function does not affect the “On” or “Standby” mode. Initiating or cancelling locate may also be performed by selection of a menu item. The OLED will display the text “LOCATE” when locate mode is active.
LED behavior is identical on the TesiraXEL 1200 amplifiers, but the device does not have an OLED display. The TesiraXEL 1200 amplifiers also support audible locate. When put in locate mode the amplifier will play an audible clip to each connected speaker to identify which speaker is connected to which amplifier channel. Locate may be initiated from a configured or unconfigured amplifier and will work even if there is no instance of Tesira SW running on the network.
Tesira Plenum-Mount Amplifiers (AMP-450P/AMP-450BP)
The Tesira plenum-mount amplifiers will flash an amplifier status LED matching the color and pattern of the general status LED when triggered from the Tesira software. There is no way to initiate/cancel Locate on the plenum-mount amplifier hardware. Locate can only be initiated/cancelled from Tesira software. Audible locate is also supported by the AMP-450P/AMP-450BP amplifiers which run concurrently with visual locate when activated, and will state a Biamp preamble followed by the channel being located. Locate messages will be played from the amplifier at the level selected in the Locate dialog, regardless of the level or mute status selected elsewhere in the software.
Parlé Microphones and Amplifier (TCM-1/TCM-1A, TCM-X/TCM-XA, TTM-X)
The Parlé microphones will flash the general status LED alternately green and off when triggered from the Tesira software. The microphone pendant LEDs will repeatedly flash green in the following sequence:
NOTE: if only one or two microphones are connected, the flash sequence is still valid for the connected microphones.
TCM-1A and TCM-XA devices will also flash an amplifier status LED matching the color and pattern of the general status LED. There is no way to initiate/cancel Locate on the TCM-1A microphone or amplifier hardware. Locate can only be initiated/cancelled from Tesira software. The TCM-XA supports initiating and cancelling locate by pressing the "Locate" button on the amplifier hardware. Audible locate is also supported by the TCM-1A and TCM-XA amplifiers which run concurrently with visual locate when activated, and will state a Biamp preamble followed by the channel being located. Locate messages will be played from the amplifier at the level selected in the Locate dialog, regardless of the level or mute status selected elsewhere in the software.
TesiraCONNECT (TC-5 & TC-5D)
All front panel LEDs will flash in unison when locate is activated.
HD-1 & TEC-1
These devices do not support the Locate function at this time.
TEC-X 1000 and TEC-X 2000
The LCD display shows the Tesira map location icon and the LED light bar at the top of the device flashes green at one second intervals. Locate may be initiated or turned off from the software only.
Dante Devices
The Attero Tech and Audio Technical Dante devices supported in Tesira implement a locate function in their respective control dialogs. Due to this, they are not directly displayed in the Locate dialog with other devices. At this time SHURE Dante devices, as well as other 3rd party Dante devices do not support either method of Locate from Tesira.
When attempting to locate devices from software on a secured system, authentication is required. Anyone who is above the Observer role and entered the correct username and password is allowed to issue a locate command from the software. If multiple devices in different systems are selected to be located, the password will be prompted for only once. If the authentication passes for all selected systems, the locate will be executed for all selected systems. If the authentication fails on any of the selected systems, the locate will not be executed for any selected systems.
If multiple devices are selected and are password protected but with a different password, the locate will fail since only one authentication is entered. It will not prompt for another authentication. If one of the selected systems is not password protected and authentication pass for all other selected devices, the locate will be attempted on the non-protected device as well.
Locate can be initiated from the front panel of a secured device. The software locate button will stay in sync on the status of the Locate.
If any error occurs during the device discovery, a warning icon will display on the bottom of the Locate Devices dialog. Clicking the warning icon will show a popup dialog with a list of warnings/faults.
